Your turn! Making introductions.

Welcome to my little corner of the Internet!
Friends,

My goal for this blog is to seek and write about the joy and wonder of ordinary, routine life, how beauty and grace seep into those quiet moments. I don't want to do this all on my own - I'd love to hear from YOU. I can only provide one perspective, and the way to spread the message of light in small moments is to hear from any and all of you. I'll be asking more questions, hoping for answers and discussion, and any experiences you'd like to share in the comments.

To start off, I'd like to host a little online "mixer" as my friend Rosie calls it. Since I hope you'll come back to this blog, and that we can begin to have important conversations here, I want to offer this post and this safe space for a time of introduction. Here we go!

I'm Claire, and I'm a Georgia transplant living in North Carolina, where I went to college. I've been blogging here for 11 (good gosh) years, so feel free to sift through the archives (or, um, not) and read my amusing teenage ramblings. I have a long family and personal history with the United Methodist Church, and I now work in church communications, which I really enjoy. My experiences have been forged by my ongoing spiritual journey. I think all faith traditions are amazing. I love my family, friends, community, writing, reading, practicing my cooking, spin classes, a warm fire, photography, college basketball, Braves baseball, National Public Radio, sleeping, dachshunds, shows including Downton Abbey and Modern Family (and of course the classics, Seinfeld and Friends), and singing really loudly when I drive.

I'd LOVE to hear from you, and know why you come by and what you'd like to see more of. Feel free to answer any or all of these questions in the comments!

  • Where do you live?
  • What’s a little known fact about you?
  • What brought you to this little corner of the internet?
  • Do you have a blog? If so, please tell me a little bit about it and include a link!
  • What posts do you like, and what other posts/topics would you like to see?
  • Do you know me, if so how?
  • And anything else you wish to share.

A fellow Davidsonian, currently living in Chapel Hill, NC, where I'm working towards a medical career. Most people don't know that I used to be a cheerleader (and I've never been to Walt Disney World). I have been perusing my dear friend's blog here since I met her at Davidson back in 2007. Funny story how that happened, actually. It can be summed up in 6 words: "How do you know the Hirschels?!" Makes me smile every time I think about it. (We have mutual friends even though we grew up in different regions of the country, and somehow we ended up being friends at Davidson!)

Anyway, I do not have my own blog, but I really enjoy reading this lovely author's writing and about how she sees the world!

As an original reader of the blog some ten years ago I think I HAVE to comment! :) I have really enjoyed watching your blog morph through the years, and love that I can still keep up with you. Though I don't read every post, I pop up from time to time to see what going on in Claire World.

I like reading anything that has to do with your life now, and I would love to see something about what a typical day in your life is like--that kind of thing just interests me! Lots have changed since we walked around the field in the 9th grade P.E.! Mostly, I just like to see that you are happy and you seem very satisfied with your life right now!

I am starting my own blog-literally just starting-about my teaching life. Currently there's only one lonely post, and my writing doesn't have the beautiful ring that yours does. Check out my crazy teacher life at totallyteach.blogspot.com, but you might want to wait until I write a bit more!

Again, I love keeping up with you and hearing how you're doing through your beautiful writing! Keep on blogging!

I'm David, I grew up in Charlotte and met Claire at Davidson. She's a sister and I read all my sisters' blogs, although Claire references Davidson basketball most often. I love the poetic voice Claire brings to the everyday and have fun picturing the familiar in what she writes about. Keep it up!
