Advent 2.5

Today Erin and I went to lunch at Panera. It was bustling of course, as it always is at lunch time - and everyone wants their soup on a cold day. From the moment we got there, Erin played a kind of hide-and-seek with a little dark-haired four or five year old boy who was with his little brother and his grandparents. He would sneak a glance in Erin's direction, and then turn his head back fast, mischievous-like, "who, me?" Then she would do the same, and he would pretend not to see her. Both players were quite aware of the game, and seemed to be enjoying themselves. (Well, I knew Erin was, since I was sitting with her.)

Finally, when the family got up to leave, the little boy flashed a wide grin in Erin's direction. Without ever speaking, they had become friends. "Bye!" she called, smiling. "Merry Christmas!" "Bye!" the boy said back.

I feel like this has something to do with Advent but I don't know if I can articulate it... regardless, I loved it!
